Celebrity Speakers

Billy Beane, Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations for the Oakland A’s & Subject of Moneyball

Considered one of the most progressive and talented baseball executives in the game today, Billy Beane shattered traditional MLB beliefs that big payrolls equated wins by implementing a statistical methodology that led the Oakland A's to six American League West Division Titles. That strategic methodology has come to be known as the Moneyball philosophy, named for the bestselling book and Oscar nominated film, starring Brad Pitt, chronicling Beane’s journey from General Manager to hero to celebrated management genius. Today, Billy Beane’s “Moneyball” philosophy has been adopted by organizations of all sizes, across all industries, as a way to more effectively, efficiently, and profitably manage their assets, talent, and resources and employ analytics for long-term success.

Daryl Morey, President of Basketball Operations for the Philadelphia 76ers

The former General Manager of the NBA’s Houston Rockets, Daryl Morey is an expert in the field of analytics. He successfully spearheaded an innovative integration of statistical analytics into the evaluation of NBA talent, forever changing the sport. Morey was named winner of the 2018 NBA Basketball Executive of the Year Award in recognition of his leadership of The Rockets. On Nov. 2, 2020, it was announced that Morey would be joining the Philadelphia 76ers as President of Basketball Operations after 14 seasons with Houston. Morey is also the founder and co-chair of the annual MIT Sloan Sports Conference, which is the largest annual sports conference hosted by a business school and premier venue for sports analytics discussion.
